After Tkachuk was appointed to the BEB in early 2023, the founder of StateWatch Ukraine, Oleksandr Lemenov, published a series of materials on his own social networks and platforms of anti-corruption NGOs regarding violations in determining qualification requirements. These messages also called Tkachuk close to Oleg Tatarov.

Indirect information about the close ties between Tatarov and Tkachuk is confirmed by reports of Tkachuk's participation in joint meetings with Tatarov, in particular with business representatives.

Other materials reported that Tatarov and Tkachuk previously worked together in the Ministry of Internal Affairs .

Road accident on the Capital Highway

In July 2024, Oleksandr Tkachuk became the subject of media mentions in the context of a road accident he committed in Kyiv, as a result of which another driver suffered a traumatic amputation of her legs. According to media reports, the Toyota Camry driven by Tkachuk was not listed in his declaration. Instead, it is registered with Elvikon LLC from Odessa, owned by an offshore from the Seychelles, which has more than 50 LLCs of various types registered in Ukraine in different cities.

According to Oleksandr Tkachuk's declaration , he lives in a 117 sq.m. apartment in Kyiv, on Vozdvyzhenka, which is registered to his mother. At the same time, the declaration for 2020 indicated that this apartment belongs to Tkachuk's father.

This apartment became the subject of journalistic investigations. In particular, investigators noted that Oleksandr Tkachuk and his family did not provide any evidence that Tkachuk's parents had the financial capacity to purchase such real estate on their own. As noted in the media, the head of the BEB detectives has been using this apartment since the building was put into operation, which confirms that the apartment was purchased specifically for him.

In addition, journalists found out that during the construction of this residential building, Tkachuk worked as a senior operational officer for especially important cases in the State Fiscal Service. It was during this period, on November 30, 2015, that the State Fiscal Service opened criminal proceedings against the developer who was building this building. And already in 2017, these proceedings were closed. Thus, the apartment in the building, the developer of which was under investigation, ended up in the ownership of the father of an employee of the same institution that was conducting the investigation.

At the end of May 2025, it became known that NABU opened proceedings regarding the possible illegal enrichment of Oleksandr Tkachuk (Article 368 5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), began a pre-trial investigation into the case, and entered the relevant information into the ERDR.

Suspicion of organizing a "grain scheme" in the Odessa region

At the end of 2024, a large-scale corruption scandal broke out in the press related to the so-called "grain scheme" in the Odessa region, in which high-ranking security officials were involved. According to the investigation, employees of the Bureau of Economic Security, in collusion with customs officers and grain traders, organized a mechanism for illegal grain exports, which led to the loss of about 10 billion hryvnias in tax revenues.

Ukrainian experts suggested that the leader of this scheme from Kyiv could have been Oleksandr Tkachuk, together with the then Deputy Prosecutor General Dmytro Verbytsky.

Countering the investigation into the activities of illegal cigarette manufacturers

Oleksandr Tkachuk is involved in a scandal related to the blocking of an investigation into the production of counterfeit cigarettes at the Lviv Tobacco Factory in Vynnyky. According to journalistic investigations, Tkachuk exerted pressure on BEB detectives who were investigating the production of counterfeit cigarettes, preventing the effective conduct of investigative actions. In particular, he is accused of attempting to hide cigarette production equipment that was located outside the licensed production area and blocking examinations that were supposed to confirm the illegal activities of the factory. In addition, during searches at the factory, 1.6 million packs of cigarettes without excise stamps were discovered, which indicates large-scale tax evasion.

Oleksandr Tkachuk is divorced (in 2022), has two daughters – Maria and Yulia, who, according to data from Tkachuk 's declaration, own real estate in Austria and probably live there.
